First UK edition, published 1857, Bradbury & Evans
Octavo (212 x 132 mm). Etched frontispiece, vignette title page, 38 plates (8 of which are "dark plates"), by H. K. Browne (Phiz). Contemporary brown calf, which is in fine condition, compartments tooled in bright gilt, marbled sides which have suffered minor damp staining and scuffing, There is a little foxing to some pages and plates but overall, it is in near fine condition. The only disappointment is that the erratum slip is absent.
