The book has a very slight lean and the boards are a little worn at the base edges otherwise at least very good in a very good dustwrapper (chipped with a little loss at spine extremities and along top edge of front and rear panels. There is some internal repair to hinge of the front inner flap and a crease and small closed tear to the base of the front panel).
The book is signed by the author to the first title page, signed copies are extremely rare.
*Whilst definitely a first edition we are not entirely sure where it was first issued. The publication page states first published 1951 and the price on the inner flap clearly says 12/6, which was the price in the UK. However, at the foot of the page, it says the book was printed in Australia and to confuse things a little further, there is a very small Cape Town bookshop label at the base of the inner board.
